The clerks will be randomly matched with a law firm and a corporate law department. Although all of the law firms are located in downtown Charlotte, a number of the participating corporate legal departments are not.
Each law firm will set the compensation for its clerk based on the compensation provided to its summer associates. The corporate law departments jointly will determine the weekly compensation for the second six weeks of the program. That information should be available by February 27, 2008. The compensation provided by the law firms may include a housing subsidy. Some of the law firms assist law students in locating housing.
